The Southwark Construction Skill Centre’s is based in Elephant & Castle regeneration project at Elephant park. The centre has four purpose built classrooms, workshop, 1000sft training yard and a CSCS test centre.
The primary aim is to build the SCSC as a brand with a focus on increasing employment, apprenticeships and training opportunities in the construction sector for local people. The four strategic aims of the centre are:
- Bridge the skills gaps
- Local community engagement
- Inspire young people
- Upskill the existing workforce.
We have an ambition to establish the SCSC as a world class training facility tailored to deliver an innovative ‘real life’ construction experience with a focus on those who live and work in Southwark, as well as the wider tri-borough area and beyond.
The centres offers apprenticeships, pre-employability, NVQ’s, CSCS and short courses. Since September 2016 the centre has trained over 1000 local residents.
